Story – Jagmeet Singh, Canadian Politician who is first for many things

He was the first turban-wearing Sikh to sit as a provincial legislator in Ontario, the first to lead a major federal party, as well as the first to hold a deputy leader position in Canada. Before entering politics, Singh was a trial lawyer. Upon his election, Singh became the first person of a visible minority group to lead a Canadian federal political party on a permanent basis, and the second overall after Bloc Quebecois’ former interim leader Vivian Barbot.
