My biggest fear was that, if I stayed in Etawah, I would become a teacher like my two older sisters. I wanted to do something different so my father, who worked in the Oriental Insurance Company, let me go to Delhi. In Delhi, I got a job as a receptionist in a computer centre. My salary was Rs 4,000. Incidentally, when I went to Delhi for the job interview, I reached on a Friday night. The computer centre was shut for the weekend and I had nowhere to go. So I spent the weekend in the waiting room of the railway station. On Monday morning, when I went to the computer centre with my luggage, the owner scolded me and told me Delhi wasn’t safe.
